Theological Education for Emerging Ministry (TEEM) is a non-degreed program of theological education that prepares women and men for ministry in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Students entering the program must be selected and designated for the TEEM educational track by their synod bishop and candidacy committee.

The TEEM program at LSPS is unique in the ELCA in that it is a totally bilingual program: courses are taught in English and Spanish, thus making it possible for English speakers and Spanish speakers to be in the program without being fluent in both languages. Students whose native language is Spanish are encouraged to complete their written work and course assignments in Spanish. Through the various cross-cultural educational experiences that take place in and through the curriculum, LSPS TEEM students are prepared for ministry in the cross-cultural contexts that predominate the Southwest and other parts of our country. English speaking students who desire to increase their Spanish language proficiency are given the option to participate in language and cultural immersion experiences with our language school affiliate in Cuernavaca, Mexico.

Another unique feature of the LSPS TEEM program is that students do not need to relocate to Austin to complete their theological education. Course requirements are completed through intensive week or weekend gatherings that are held four times throughout the year. Please see the manual for details.
