PROSPECTIVE STUDENTS
Dear Prospective Student,
Thank you for your interest in LSPS and for taking the time to visit our web site. Whether you are an inquiring about our Master of Divinity program or our TEEM program, I hope this web site will help you become acquainted and informed about the unique program of theological education that we offer.
As an extension of Wartburg Theological Seminary and the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago, we offer a four year program of theological education that leads to the Master of Divinity degree, and prepares you for ministry in the Hispanic cross-cultural realities of the Southwest. Our non-degreed TEEM program will likewise prepare you for ordained ministry in the ELCA in these diverse and changing contexts.
It is no secret that the demographics of our country are changing. Already the Hispanic community represents the largest minority in the United States, and projections are that this particular community will only grow. The mission of the church requires that it will have ordained leaders who have the cross-cultural and language competencies necessary to work in this diverse and changing vineyard. At LSPS, our mission is to prepare women and men for ordained ministry who will have these unique and specific skills. Through a challenging curriculum that includes the classical components of theological education, an intensive language program and a variety of cultural immersion experiences, you will have the theological, cultural and language skills necessary to enter into ministry in this wonderfully diverse and changing environment.
We pray that God's Spirit will continue to guide you as you discern your call. Please know that you are welcomed to contact us at any time. We would be delighted to have you visit our campus and become more fully acquainted with us and our program.
In the Spirit of the One who calls us forth,
Dr. Wayne L. Menking
